A PROJECT set up in Bradford to help children discuss, draw and use their imagination will find out today if it has scooped a national award.
The Art & Science of Noticing, a new workshop for schools, has been shortlisted for a Museums and Heritage Educational Initiative Award.
Teachers in Bradford said the scheme, which started in January 2014, has helped children to be more enthusiastic and positive about literacy, poetry and drawing.
The ASN encouraged children to make their own choices, question and describe objects they found at Bradford museum collections.
They held 44 sessions at museums in the area with more than 1,000 pupils taking part.
A spokesman from Bradford Museum and Galleries said children found the workshops interesting and it encouraged them to have fun exploring buildings and the museum’s collections, children are often interested in unexpected things, sometimes without labels, so this project is helping everyone find out more.
The awards ceremony is being held in London’s Historic Staterooms.
Other nominees for the same award are Thackray Medical Museum and the Imperial War Museum.
