FLAGS at Bradford’s City Hall were displayed at half-mast in recognition of Workers’ Memorial Day yesterday.
The theme for this year’s memorial day, which is held on April 28 every year, was removing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace.
In Keighley, union representatives, councillors and four students from Holy Family Catholic School gathered outside Cliffe Castle Museum to observe a minute’s silence.
They stood by a flowering cherry tree planted in 2011 in memory of Keighley man Steven Allen, who died in 2007 following a building site accidents, and all other workers who have died in their workplace.
Mr Allen’s mother, Judith Allen, was also present at the event, which concluded with a short service in Keighley Town Hall Square.
