PEOPLE are being urged to be on their guard against postal vote fraud.

West Yorkshire Police areis asking anyone planning to vote by post to safeguard their voice by making sure they don’t allow anyone to tamper with their ballot.

A spokesman for the police said: “If you have concerns about electoral malpractice, report them to the police on 101 or your council electoral services department.”

People linked to an election candidate should not help anyone fill out their ballot paper or take delivery of it.

Anyone who needs help filling out a ballot paper should request assistance from a friend or family member who is not involved in the election.
