PUPILS and teachers at a Bradford primary school are hosting a special event to encourage dads and grandads to get more involved in school activities.
St Matthew’s CE Primary on Mayo Avenue has planned tomorrow’s event, and hopes around 100 men attend.
The popular event has been held annually for the last five years and runs from 9am until 10.30am. The dads and grandads are invited to their child’s classroom where they get involved in various activities with the children. At previous events, they have been involved in quizzes, such as one based on the popular television show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?.
They also team up with their children or grandchildren to complete tasks, such as building the highest tower using newspaper.
Headteacher Bob Curran said: “The aim of the morning is to encourage dads and grandads to feel welcome in school and give them an opportunity to alongside their son or daughter in the classroom. The children really look forward to events like this and are very excited about this special morning.”
