BLUEBELL lovers should head for Low Wood, just north of Keighley, which Yorkshire Wildlife Trust has named as an oasis for wildlife and the perfect setting for a spring walk.
The secluded spot is home to beautiful spring flower displays with carpets of bluebells covering the ground. Later, foxgloves provide pollen for bees and butterflies, while signs of larger animals may be detected, with both roe deer and badgers often using the site.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Chief Executive Rob Stoneman said: “Our woodlands are sacred to many of us and require a lot of tender loving care to ensure they remain vibrant communities full of wildlife.
“Yorkshire Wildlife Trust recently launched an appeal to help buy new equipment to enable our reserve officers to carry large scale works to improve the structure of our woodland nature reserves."
“Any support is gratefully received and shall help us create more habitat for woodland wildflowers, butterflies such as the purple hairstreak.”
