THE proposed conversion of part of a restaurant car park into a car wash has been given the go ahead by planners, who say it will bring much needed new business to the area.
Ashiana Restaurant at 48 Tong Street, in Dudley Hill, has a car park area, and Waleed Khalid had applied to Bradford council to let him change the use of part of the site.
Similar plans were refused last year, partly due to the lack of parking spaces.
Despite several objections, the council approved the application, saying: “The proposal is welcomed as it would give rise to business.” It said the issues that led to last year’s application being refused have now been reconciled.
Conditions of the approval are that the car wash only opens from 9am to 5pm on Monday to Saturday.
Also that acoustic fencing be built on the site.
