FIRE crews from multiple stations spent several hours battling a moorland blaze yesterday afternoon and well into the evening.
The fire took hold of land at Snowfield Farm in Silsden shortly after 5pm, and led to engines being sent from Silsden, Keighley, Bingley Shipley and Skipton, as well as a specialist wildfire team being called in.
At its height the fire was raging over an area measuring 1,500 metres by 1,500 metres. A large pump, an ultra light pump and numerous officers worked on containing the blaze, and remained at the scene until around 9pm.
