A CHARITY bike ride has raised more than £2,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
The group of fundraisers called at 20 mosques across the district on Sunday, gathering money for the appeal, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
One of the organisers, Naz Ali, said they were still counting up all the donations, but were close to raising £2,500.
He said: “It went fantastically, it was really, really good. The weather held off for us and It was brilliant. everybody completed the task.”
The 20-mile cycle ride started at Madni Mosque in Newton Street, West Bowling, and from there the team cycled to mosques in Bradford Moor, Barkerend, Manningham, Heaton and Shipley, among others.
The event was organised by the mosques alongside the district’s Youth Service.
Mr Ali said: “We got a lot of helpers along the way as we visited all the mosques across Bradford.”
He said they hoped to present the cash to staff at Marie Curie’s the hospice in Maudsley Street, Bradford, at a later date.
