YORKSHIRE Water has been rated as one of the UK’s most responsible firms by the charity Business in the Community.
The Bradford-based firm achieved a score of 98 per cent in its annual Corporate Responsibility Index.
In total, just 68 businesses were listed in the Index.
The CR Index, now in its 13th year, is a benchmarking tool that helps companies measure and manage the progress they are making to work responsible practices into their business plans.
Yorkshire Water has rolled out several initiatives to achieve the recognition including a £5 million Social Tariff to reduce the bills of 10,000 customers on low incomes as well as a commitment to pay a living wage to eligible employees.
Chief executive Richard Flint said: “This accolade from Business in the Community is proof of the hard work we have put in to deliver positive social, economic and environmental measures that go above and beyond regulatory requirements.”
