A CHARITY which provides a lifeline to hundreds of vulnerable people and children living below the poverty line in Bradford has received a boost.
Bradford Foodbank has been given £1,500 from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to help buy much-needed new equipment such as a commercial dishwasher.
So far this year Bradford Foodbank has provided emergency three-day food parcels to 1,133 people facing crisis, including more than 300 children.
Bradford Foodbank project manager Lisa Seale said: “This incredibly generous gift from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation will literally help to change lives.
“Bradford Central Foodbank operates at The Light Church, run by friendly volunteers who provide a listening ear, hot meal and food parcels in a safe, relaxed environment."
Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded by the Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the annual interest on their accounts.
Bradford Foodbank was nominated for the donation by Sumaira Zulfiqar, a service administrator based at the company’s head office at Yorkshire Drive.
She said: “The amount of people who rely on the foodbank is shocking and I wanted to do what I could to help support them and the amazing work they do. “
