A CHARITY that works to improve the reading skills of Bradford children is holding a fundraising gala on Saturday at 7pm.
The Reading Matters Gala Dinner in being held at the Midland Hotel. Much-loved author Gervase Phinn will be speaking after dinner and the event will also be attended by the popular presenter of ‘Look North’, Harry Gration. Around 200 guests are expected.
The charity works with children and young people who are struggling and reluctant readers to improve their reading ages, confidence and self-esteem.
Last year’s fundraising event raised £12,000, and this year the charity aims to do even better.
Chief Executive of Reading Matters, Rachel Kelly, said: “We are delighted to be holding another Gala Dinner. The money we raise enables us to help children reach their potential by becoming confident readers.”
The event starts at 7pm.
