A UKIP councillor has denied any knowledge of bad taste jokes made online in his name.
Keighley West councillor Brian Morris was shocked when told that a Facebook account in the name of ‘Cllr Brian Morris’ had been used to post an inappropriate joke about Scottish people in response to a question about asylum seekers.
A picture of the Facebook conversation was then posted on Twitter.
Cllr Morris said he was annoyed that someone had seemingly set-up an account in his name.
"If anybody is offended I'm truly sorry - I'm not happy about it at all," he said.
Cllr Morris said he has posted "comical pictures" on his Facebook page which is under the name 'Brian Morris', but knew nothing about jokes attributed to 'Cllr Brian Morris'.
He has also changed his passwords on Facebook and shut his Twitter account and asked both sites to remove the comments.
He added: "If again anyone receives something bad with my account name attached please let me know so I can report specific incidents to Facebook."
