THE Bradford Burns Unit is getting a funding boost from the Skipton branch of Specsavers.
The store is getting behind a production of The 56, a new play by the FYSA Theatre to mark the 30th anniversary of the Bradford City fire.
Staff are giving money to the Bradford University Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit, founded after the fire, and asking the local community to do the same.
Tom Lodge, in-store trainer at the branch, who is also the co-founder of the FYSA Theatre, co-creator of The 56 and an actor in the show, said: “This project means so much to me because it’s a piece of theatre that makes a difference.
“Not only in the sense of the fundraising for the burns unit, which is a fantastic cause in itself, but also in the sense that it is commemorating this incredible story of how a small northern community responded to an event as enormous as this one.”
The show comes to the Alhambra Studio from tomorrow to Saturday on its National tour. Visit www.fysatheatre.com/tickets to buy tickets.
