BRADFORDIANS are being encouraged to ‘hike for their hearts’ to raise money in the fight against cardiac disease.
The Yorkshire-based charity Heart Research UK is hosting its own walking festival in the Dales on June 20, and is looking for hikers to join one of two events on the day.
Participants can enjoy an escorted 16-mile Valleys Walk, which passes around the foothills of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, or tackle the full Three Peaks Challenge by scaling all three summits in less than 12 hours.
There is no entry fee, with entrants just asked to raise as much money as possible in sponsorship for the charity.
Barbara Harpham, national director at Heart Research UK, said: “The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge includes a gentler walk along the valleys, as well as the full climb, so will appeal to all audiences. “It is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and is such a wonderful day with families, friends and colleagues all 'hiking for their hearts'.”
To take part in the event, Visit www.heartresearch.org.uk/events/yorkshire-three-peaks-valleys, or callontact the charity on 0113 234 7474 to take part.
