EAST is East, a play about British Asian life that became a hit film, is coming to Bradford.
Ayub Khan Din’s semi-autobiographical account of British Asian life in the 1970s and the clash of cultures between a multi-cultural family growing up in Salford, has become a modern comedy classic.
The long-awaited revival by director Sam Yates will come to the Alhambra Theatre from August 31 to September 5, after a successful West End run.
The cast is led by Father Ted star Pauline McLynn as Ella Khan. She said: “I am very excited to be part of this production.
"The play by Ayub Khan Din is sparkling, funny and tender and I’m delighted to be working with the brilliant Sam Yates. I cannot wait to get out there with it.” She will join Ashley Kumar as Tariq Khan, Darren Kuppan as Maneer Khan and Sally Bankes as Auntie Annie.
Tickets go on sale today, priced from £17.50 to £31. Phone the box office on 01274 432000.
