VOLUNTEERS from the National Grid will be mucking in at Bradford’s PRISM Youth Project today to help teenagers take their first steps into the world of work.
Staff from the energy company will be helping youngsters hone their interview techniques, prepare for work, create CVs, and complete job applications in a bid to land their dream jobs and coveted college places.
In return, PRISM trainees will be showing the volunteers the ropes at the Bradford City Farm, on Walker Drive, Girlington, where they will take on tasks such as animal feeding, mucking out, and gardening.
PRISM provides education and work initiatives to youngsters aged from 12 to 21, who have struggled to achieve in more conventional settings.
The skills-based session in Bradford is one of 17 nationwide events organised by National Grid as part of Responsible Business Week, which runs until Sunday, aimed at championing the role of businesses in creating a fairer society and a sustainable future.
