A DRAMATIC smash involving four vehicles on a country lane near Bingley left three people needing hospital treatment, police have confirmed.
The accident, which happened on Cottingley Moor Road at around 3.18pm yesterday, involved a silver Volkswagen Golf, a white Mercedes Sprinter van, a red Renault Megane, and a grey Volkswagen Beetle.
The Golf was travelling along the road towards Cottingley, when it collided with the Mercedes van travelling in the opposite direction.
A 16-year-old male passenger in the Golf was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm.
The female driver of the Beetle, and the male driver of the Megane, also required hospital treatment for minor injuries.
The Renault could be seen overturned, with the Golf embedded in a stone wall, and the Beetle close by.
This morning police have appealed for anyone who saw the manner in which the Golf was being driven before the crash to get in touch.
The road had to be shut in both directions as emergency services, including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and fire crews from Shipley and Bingley, worked to free casualties and make the area safe.
Firefighters cut the roof off the Golf to free the passenger, who was then flown to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.
In the aftermath of the incident, local councillors described the road as unsafe and "horrendously dangerous."
Anyone who witnessed the crash, or the movements of the Golf before it, is asked to contact PC 5463 Moore at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support team on 101.
