A BRADFORD charity has received a prestigious accreditation as it prepares to celebrate its fifth year of providing for homeless people in the city.

Inn Churches has achieved the Housing Justice Quality Mark (HJQM) for its church and community night shelter achieving an Excellent Practice Standard.

The HJQM is a set of quality standards designed to support and recognise night shelters which achieve safe and effective practice.

Housing Justice chief executive Alison Gelder said: “We are delighted to welcome Inn Churches to the network of Housing Justice Quality Mark-accredited night shelters.

“Church and community night shelters are proving an effective response to homelessness in many parts of the country, providing shelter to people who might otherwise be forced to sleep on the street or sofa-surf with friends or family.”

Inn Churches is hosting a party at Forster’s Bistro in Bradford on Saturday for volunteers and supporters. The event will include an art exhibition, live music and raffle.

A spokesman for the charity said: “This is an evening of celebrating the amazing work done by our volunteers and supporters.”
