POLICE are wanting to trace the owner of a seized quad bike in Wyke.

After reports of the bike being ridden along pavements in the Chassum Walk and Lilycroft Lane area, officers from the Anti-Social Behaviour Bike Team attended and quickly spotted it.

The rider tried to make off on it but when it would not start up, abandoned it instead and ran away. Officers seized the quad and discovered it was in a dangerous condition with defective brakes and engine faults.

A police spokesman who added: “The rider clearly had no respect for his community when riding it along the pavements and walkways around Chassum Walk.

“Safety was put at risk and noise nuisance was caused.

“With any luck, this quad will be crushed by the end of the month and its owner will have suffered its loss as a result.”
