THE Bishop of West Yorkshire and the Dales will visit a Calderdale school to bless its new cross.
The Right Reverend Nick Baines will be at the Lightcliffe Church of England School, Wakefield Road, Halifax, to bless a new cross which has been placed in the garden of the school.
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 23, from 10am.
The cross has been designed by Graham Alcock, who is a local designer and school governor for Lightcliffe School.
It was cast at WB White Foundry Limited, based in Brighouse.
The cross was commissioned by the school and is not a traditional Latin cross but instead takes the form of a child with outstretched arms.
Words including Love, Hope, Joy and Trust are embedded onto the clothing of the child on the design.
The blessing of the cross ceremony will be attended by a host of guests including the Mayor of Calderdale Councillor Patricia Allen, Craig Whittaker Member of Parliament, Calder Valley, members of Lightcliffe PFSA, school governors and retired teaching staff as well as various friends and helpers of Lightcliffe School.
