A GROUP of seven Keighley women who banded together to tackle the town’s stray cat problem have appealed for support.
The Crazy Cat Ladies was set up in September last year to address what its members describe as a serious, ongoing problem.
However, they are “desperate” to find new permanent and foster homes for abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens.
Founder member Carol Ann Booth, who lives in Shann Park, said: “We pay for everything ourselves and we raise what money we can through things like car boot sales and auctions.
“So far we’ve managed to re-home 150 cats and kittens. We even take in cats from Bradford and Blackpool because everywhere else is full, but it’s getting to the stage where we’ve nowhere to put them.
“With the kitten season starting soon it’s going to be a nightmare.
“We have a network of cat foster carers which we couldn’t manage without, but we could do with more people willing to foster cats for us.
“We would pay for cat food and cat litter and make sure the cats are neutered and checked over by a vet.”
She said many of the cats who spend time living in the streets end up in a very poor condition and often need medical attention.
