HOMES in the Bradford East constituency have had the second highest number of energy efficient measures installed since 2010, according to a parliamentary candidate.
David Ward visited a house in Idle to see free cavity wall insulation installed as part of the government’s Energy Companies Obligation scheme, which aims to increase the energy efficiency of homes.
Mr Ward, who is the Liberal Democrat candidate in Bradford East, said: “Thanks to Liberal Democrat policies in government, across the whole country Bradford East has the second highest number of energy efficient measures installed since 2010. That’s real benefits for local people helping to cut the cost of energy bills.
“The Liberal Democrats have also used our time in Government to create the world’s first Green Investment Bank to invest in low carbon energy, helping to double electricity generation from renewable power since 2010.
“We have been the greenest government ever but we want to go further and that’s why the Liberal Democrats want to introduce five new green laws in the next parliament, cutting carbon emissions, protecting our natural habitats and cutting waste, ensuring that we protect the environment so that future generations are not left paying for the mistakes of their forebears.”
