DETECTIVES have mounted a new bid to trace two members of a gang involved in the gunpoint ambush of a car dealer and his friend in Bradford.

The victims were lured down a secluded cul-de-sac and then robbed by gunman Thomas Adams of £2,000 cash they had brought to buy car parts.

Adams, 23, of Carr Street, Bankfoot, Bradford, was jailed last month for eight years and four months for robbery, and separate offences of burglary and violent disorder.

Bradford Crown Court heard that two other men were present when Adams robbed Fenan Sarwar and his friend.

Today, police renewed their appeal for information about the two suspects in a bid to bring them to justice.

Detective Constable Jason Raine, of Bradford District CID, said: "Although Adams played a pivotal role in this crime and is now serving a lengthy sentence, I am determined to trace these two other men who were present.

"These men clearly had no problem in taking part in this frightening robbery, and it is important that they are caught and sentenced for their involvement, before they are involved in any similar incidents."

The robbery took place in Lemon Street, Little Horton, in July last year.

Mr Sarwar and his friend were lured to Bradford from Lancashire, under the impression that they were purchasing car parts, after placing an advert on an internet site. They had £2,000 with them in an envelope, and were directed to Hawes Avenue, near the M606, where they were met by Adams.

He jumped into their van and directed them to a small standalone garage in Lemon Street. The other two men appeared next to their vehicle, and Adams took the ignition keys and produced a black handgun, pointing it at one of the men and demanding money. Mr Sarwar threw the envelope at Adams and the victims fled.

The gun turned out to be an imitation weapon.

Adams' 26-year-old brother, Robert Adams, of Fairburn Gardens, Eccleshill, was jailed for four years for the joint offences of burglary and violent disorder. He was not involved in the robbery.

Detectives hope the sentencing of Thomas Adams will lead to new information about the two other suspects who were present at the scene.

One is described as a chubby black man, believed to be in his mid 20s. He was wearing a black tracksuit and goggles, which were believed to be attached to a headband.

The second man was of mixed race, possibly African-Caribbean, in his 20s and slim. He was wearing a dark hooded top, black combat trousers and a baseball cap.

Det Con Raine said he was also interested to hear from anyone who knew someone with the nickname 'Trolley,' who was believed to have played a part in the crime.

Anyone with information should contact him at Bradford District CID via 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
