A MOTORIST is believed to have suffered significant injuries when his car left the road and collided with some trees tonight.
Fire crews from Stanningley, Leeds and Bradford, Yorkshire Ambulance Service and police were called to the Stanningley Bypass near Dawson's Corner, Pudsey, just after 7pm after reports of an accident.
It involved one vehicle, an Alpha Romeo, that had come off the road and hit the trees. A man was in the car and fire crews worked alongside paramedics to release and treat the man. An air ambulance was called, but the man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by road.
Fire crews left the scene at 8.10pm, as police continued to investigate the cause of the crash.
The section of the bypass between Richardshaw Lane and Dawson's Corner reamined closed at 10pm.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said they had dispatched two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance, a doctor and the air ambulance.
She said the patient had "multiple injuries".
