ILKLEY Civic Society will highlight the town’s ancient past as well as more recent history in its 2015 series of heritage walks.
The society has unveiled its new series of walks, including events held as part of Ilkley Summer Festival this August, and a post-Christmas walk in December. The routes will trace Ilkley’s history, and focus on a different aspect of local heritage – ranging from Ilkley’s Roman fort to the arrival and extension of the railway.
The first walk, led by Alex Cockshott, of the series is on Sunday, July 19, taking a closer look at the Arts and Crafts style houses on Parish Ghyll Drive. Alex Cockshott will lead the walk.
Each walk lasts about half an hour.
Copies of the programme are available at Ilkley Visitor Information Centre, Ilkley Town Hall.
