TWO pubs in the Bradford district have been named among the best in the country by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
Jacobs Beer House in Bradford city centre and the Brown Cow in Keighley were voted best in their respective areas in CAMRA's Local Pubs of the Year scheme.
Volunteers at CAMRA's Bradford branch chose Jacobs, while the Keighley and Craven branch opted for the Brown Cow.
The vote was part of the launch of this month's Community Pubs Month. More than 200 pubs have been chosen across the country by local CAMRA branches.
Tom Stainer, CAMRA head of communications, said: "Community Pubs Month is about highlighting the important role pubs play in community life and no pubs are better examples of fantastic locals than these 200 CAMRA branch winners. Each one of them has been judged the best in their respective area and are well worth seeking out for any would-be ale lovers."
Pubs were rated based on decor, value for money, customer service, and the quality of their real ale.
Jacobs and the Brown Cow will now go forward to battle it out in the regional heats in their quest to become National Pub of the Year, which will be announced early next year.
