A GRUELLING triathlon challenge has coined-in cash for Manorlands.
Twenty-one employees of Intermarketing Agency cycled, swam and ran the equivalent length of the UK – 625 miles and have so far raised about £2,500. More money is still to come in and the company owners have pledged to match fund the total.
Proceeds will be split between Manorlands, in Oxenhope, and its sister Sue Ryder hospice in Leeds, Wheatfields.
“It was tough but everyone who took part successfully completed the challenge,” said the agency’s marketing and PR manager, Alison Reid.
“For everybody, it was a step up from anything they’ve attempted before.
“I enjoy swimming for leisure, but I took on 160 lengths – much more than I would normally do – and my colleagues did similar feats.
“We’re delighted with how it went and the amount raised.”
The cyclists each rode 70 miles from Scarborough to Leeds, the swimmers attempted 2.5 miles and the runners 15 miles.
Jamie Allan, a managing partner at Intermarketing, said: “Sue Ryder has an affinity for a lot of us. Caring for patients and their families is something that strikes home with many people and some of our staff have had personal experience of a hospice and wanted to do something to help.”
