COVERAGE of the first stage of last year’s historic Yorkshire Grand Départ of the 2014 Tour de France has been nominated for a British Academy Television (Bafta) award.
Millions of fans flocked to the Bradford district to get a glimpse of riders on the first day of the tour, with the route passing through Otley, Ilkley, and Skipton.
Gary Verity (pictured), chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “We are absolutely delighted the coverage of stage one of the Yorkshire Grand Départ of the Tour de France has been nominated for a Bafta."
The nomination is in the Sport and Live Event category of the awards, which take place at the Theatre Royal, in London’s Drury Lane, on May 10.
