Ban Bloodsports on Ilkley Moor (BBIM), which has the support of TV celebrity and birdwatcher Bill Oddie, is asking the authority to implement an Independent Expert Panel to oversee the impact of grouse shooting on the moor which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SIA). It also wants an annual grouse population count.
BBIM spokesman Luke Steele (pictured) said: “It is in everybody’s interest the species which inhabit Ilkley Moor are conserved and safety of moor users is upheld to the best standard available.”
