Motorists have been warned to expect congestion tonight caused by the closure of the Thornbury Roundabout junction with Bradford Road due to a gas leak.

Northern Gas Networks are carrying out essential repair work to a medium pressure gas main following third party damage this afternoon.

The repair work is expected to take around three hours, and the road should reopen around 7pm this evening.

Police are at the scene to help deal with the closure and the resulting congestion.

@MetroTravelNews tweeted: If you're unsure whether the Thornbury gas leak is going to affect your travel, give Metroline a call 0113 245 7676.

It also said Northern Rail are now accepting bus tickets on ALL routes between Leeds and Bradford to aid the disruption at Thornbury.
