PUPILS from Baildon CE Primary School have received national recognition for their work in the “Eat Like A Champ” healthy eating programme.
All Year 5 children at the school have taken part in the project, created by Danone and the British Nutrition Foundation, and were invited to the Science Museum in London for an awards ceremony hosted by ambassador Helen Skelton.
The aim of ‘Eat Like A Champ’ is to tackle the growing issue of poor nutrition and obesity among children through six tailored lessons about healthy eating. Ten year-old Jack Willis won the reporting prize; Ned Wilson and Iwan James finished runners-up in the poetry and create-a-recipe categories, and Mabel Vincent, Gemma Bristow, and Maisie-Mae Hunter finished runners-up in dance. Teacher Jim Barnett said: “The children worked extremely hard.”
