KEIGHLEY Salvation Army has made changes to its foodbank to give more help to the unprecedented numbers using the service.
Like other charities working with the town’s needy, the church has seen spiralling demand for support.
Now Bosses have expanded provision and they say initial feedback has been good. Lieutenant Ben Cotterill, commanding officer at the Keighley corps, said: “We arrived in the town about eight months ago and were aware that one of the key ways the Salvation Army supports the community here is through providing emergency food parcels.
“After spending time meeting local people and understanding the issues they face, we identified an opportunity to further make a difference by starting to change the way we run our foodbank. Our aim is to give people the skills and ability to help themselves so they don’t become dependent on emergency support.”
