YOUNGSTERS who go to Bingley Youth Cafe will soon have a state-of-the-art sound and vision system worth £1,746 thanks to a grant from Shipley Area Committee.
And the committee’s Bingley Area Action Plan fund also stumped up £800 to pay for Summer Cook and Eat sessions at the cafe during the school holidays.
There will be a variety of sessions for people aged 13-19 (25 with a disability).
They will include not just cooking and eating, but also arts and crafts, DJ-ing and an outreach event.
Eldwick Village Memorial Hall was given £698 for a new noticeboard and the same sum was allotted to both Micklethwaite and Gilstead village societies for planters Anti-dog mess group the Bingley Green Dog Walkers Scheme received £300 for leaflets, posters and promotional material needed to encourage local residents to join up.
And £200 was set aside for a ceremony to celebrate the range of voluntary work done in Bingley and the commitment of business to the local community and also to promote dementia-friendly activities in the town.
