A MAN was injured during a blaze in the basement of a Post Office building in Bradford and needed hospital treatment.
Fire crews from the Bradford and Idle stations were needed to tackle the emergency, at Thornbury Post Office in Leeds Road on Saturday afternoon.
They found a casualty who had burns to his arms and face and was also suffering the effects of breathing in smoke.
Firefighters administered first aid, using burn shields, to assist the injured man until an ambulance arrived and he was taken to hospital.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said smoke alarms were hard wired into the building's electrics system but did not go off.
A hose reel was used to douse the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to force fumes from the building.
