AN ENVIRONMENTAL charity that created a community garden is keen for people to get involved.
Bradford Community Environment Project (BCEP) has developed the area in Wibsey Park, off Reevy Avenue and is now opening a volunteer-run shop which will open two days a week.
The store, selling fruit, vegetables, chutneys, wooden garden furniture, ornaments and plants will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10.30am to 3pm, from Wednesday, April 8.
BCEP also holds two regular weekly gardening sessions on the site.
Team leader Jane Robinson said: “It’s a massive site which we are transforming to produce sustainable local food and provide a range of education and play opportunities for the whole community of Bradford."
“There’s always lots to do, so we need plenty of helpers. It’s very rewarding, and you get fitter as well!”
The women’s group at Wibsey Park Community Garden meets every Monday, starting April 13, from 10.30am until 12.30pm, and includes a healthy lunch incorporating freshly picked produce.
The men’s group meets every Tuesday, from 10am until 12.30pm, also including lunch.
