DEMENTIA-FRIENDLY campaigners have formed a committee as part of moves to raise awareness of the condition.
Dementia Friendly Keighley, whose members include volunteers and experienced professionals, held its inaugural annual general meeting last month.
They are now putting plans in place to change the way neighbourhoods around Keighley think, talk and act about people affected by dementia.
They want to help people with dementia feel connected to the community in which they live and also feel supported by fellow residents.
Committee chairman Steve Seymour said the campaign was supported by the Alzheimer’s Society.
He said: “It was clear we needed to set up a group to address the shortcomings and improve services, visitors and facilities in Keighley for those living with dementia.
“Keighley businesses were already doing a lot to support people with dementia but Dementia Friendly Keighley is now able to support them with awareness raising and training sessions.”
