OWNERS of small businesses in the Spen Valley who raised concerns with shadow chancellor Ed Balls have been listened to, according to a Labour candidate.
Jo Cox, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Batley and Spen, welcomed Mr Balls’ announcement that Labour would put small businesses first in line for tax cuts.
Mr Balls visited Cleckheaton’s Aakash restaurant last year to meet business leaders.
Mrs Cox said: “I am very pleased with Ed’s plan for small businesses, which is one that responds directly to the concerns raised by businessmen and women here in Batley and Spen.
“When he came to Cleckheaton he heard first-hand how small businesses needed help, particularly on business rates. It will be welcome news to them that he has heeded their plea.”
