A CHARITY that provides sports and arts programmes for some of Bradford’s poorest children will benefit from a donation of over £13,000 from a financial company.
Bibby Financial Services chose One in a Million as its charity for 2014, and has now presented it with £13,565.
The charity was co-founded by former Bradford City player and assistant manager Wayne Jacobs nine years ago, and provides community-based sports, arts and enterprise programmes to children and young people from disadvantaged areas.
The charity helps over 700 children every week and relies on the support of local businesses as well as the general public.
Bibby’s goal was to raise sufficient money to support One in a Million’s community to support local young people who live close to their Bradford office.
Throughout the year, the company’s Bradford office raised the money by climbing Britain’s highest mountain Ben Nevis, skydiving from 15,000ft, holding a charity dinner at Marriott hotel in Leeds, dress down days and other smaller ctivities.
Managing Director Mark Storey said: "We were delighted to have supported One in a Million during 2014 as our chosen charity and having raised a significant amount of money to benefit the children and young people across Bradford.”
Mr Jacobs said: “It was a real pleasure to work with the Bibby Financial Services team, who generously gave up their time to support our work among disadvantaged young people.”
