BRADFORDIANS are being reminded to order their repeat prescriptions ahead of the Easter weekend to ensure they have enough medication to cover the four-day period.

The region’s 111 service often receives too many calls from patients who have run out of their regular medication, which results in extra pressure on out-of-hours GP services.

So the NHS service is asking people to check that they have sufficient stocks to last them over the bank holidays.

Dr Philip Foster, associate medical director of the NHS 111 service in Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “With Easter being a four-day holiday weekend, people can easily forget to check that they have enough medication to last for the full period.

“We are taking this opportunity to remind people to request repeat prescriptions from their GP in the next couple of days so they can enjoy the celebrations without the worry of running out of vital tablets and medicines.”
