THE latest addition to the city’s burgeoning independent quarter was opening today, creating 30 jobs.
A Grade II listed building in North Parade has been transformed into a new bar called the Beer House, in a project which cost just short of £500,000.
The people behind the venture, Kathy O’Brien and Jas Bhatt, run the Boathouse Inn in Saltaire and had been looking for a way to grow their business.
The project was part-funded by a grant of £157,000 from the City Centre Growth Zone scheme.

Miss O’Brien said Bradford’s independent quarter was now really taking off, and they were looking forward to playing a part in it.
She said: “This independent quarter could be really something for Bradford.”
The building was historically the home of Liverpool & Victoria Insurance and was more recently the Table Decor furnishing shop, which remains on an upper floor.
The bar’s interior was designed by David Craig, who also designed the nearby Record Cafe.
