BRADFORD holidaymakers have been assured that more than 550 miles of roadworks will be lifted over Easter to help bank holiday journeys go smoothly.

The Highways Agency aims to complete, or lift, 209 sets of roadworks across the country by April 2. This will leave almost 97 per cent of its 9,534-mile network free of roadworks in time for the holidays. The Highways Agency will complete 371 miles of roadworks at 147 sites before the Easter holiday.

A further 62 sets of roadworks and lane restrictions will be removed across 201 miles of carriageway by 6am on Thursday, April 2, until just after midnight on Tuesday, April 7.
