BRADFORD’S world known Topic Folk Club is to remember a stalwart member with a special music night.
Loyal member Mick Walker (pictured) died suddenly in September. He seemed fine was at the club the night before and seemed fine, but collapsed by his van outside his Eccleshill home.
In his memory the club has booked one of his favourite folk performers and friends, Kieran Halpin, to perform on Thursday, April 9 at its usual venue of Glyde House in Little Horton Lane.
“Mick’s death came as a great shock. He was always there to help in the running of the club, especially in practical matters. He continues to be greatly missed, with his ready smile and wit, always ready to lend a hand,” said the club’s Anthony Charnock.
Mr Walker was 18 when he started going to the Topic in the mid-1960s and was co-opted onto the club committee in September 1969.
He was on the committee twice after that, the last time up until he died.
