A WOMAN, 65, needed hospital treatment after she was confronted by a gunman in her Bradford home early on Sunday.
Officers were called to Parkway in East Bowling at 4.25am after the victim discovered the intruder inside the property when she went to investigate a noise.
Police said he was armed "with what appeared to be a handgun".
The suspect, who was wearing dark clothing, ran off along Raynbron Crescent.
The victim suffered breathing difficulties as a result of the shock of the incident and was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg, of Bradford District CID, said: "Clearly this was a very distressing incident for the victim, and we would like to hear from anyone who saw the male in the area, or who has any information that could assist the investigation."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bradford District CID at Javelin House via 101, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
