POLICE investigating an attack on one of their vehicles during a pursuit by officers have released an image of a man they want to trace.
Officers tried to stop a VW Golf car in Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, early on Monday morning but it failed to stop and they ended up chasing it through Cleckheaton.
During that time items were thrown from the Golf, including crow bars and towing straps, which damaged the police car.
A dashboard camera recorded the incident and captured this image of a man emerging from the Golf.
PC Victoria Catania, from the Kirklees District Burglary Team, said: ‘‘Police signalled the vehicle, which was a silver coloured VW Golf, to stop as it travelled on Bradford Road, Cleckheaton in the early hours of Monday morning.
‘‘The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit began in which a number of items were thrown from the golf including crow bars and towing straps which damaged the police vehicle.
‘‘A short time after the pursuit began the vehicle was abandoned in a field off Moorside Road in Drighlington with four men fleeing the area on foot.’’
The Golf is believed to have been stolen during a burglary on March 3.
Anyone recognising the man is asked to contact the Kirklees District Burglary Team via 101 and quoting crime reference number 13150115532
