A 25-YEAR-OLD man who led police on high speed vehicle pursuits twice in five months has been jailed.
Adam Sutcliffe, of Kenton Way, Holme Wood, Bradford, was locked up for 12 months and banned from driving for three years at Bradford Crown Court today.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, having no insurance and possession of a small amount of cocaine, on November 21 last year.
Prosecutor John Bull said the offence put Sutcliffe in breach of a six month suspended sentence for aggravated vehicle taking in a pick-up truck on May 9.
The court heard that Sutcliffe was spotted by the police driving a Vauxhall Astra at speed on Westfield Lane, Wyke, after 10pm. He was pursued until he hit a wall on Wyke Lane.
The May offence happened when Sutcliffe, who had never held a driving licence, was at the wheel of a Mercedes pick-up truck. He led police at speed through a red light on Tong Street before crashing and spinning round in the road.
Sutcliffe's solicitor advocate, Ashok Khullar, said he was his mother's carer and would be vulnerable if sent to prison.
Recorder Paul Reid jailed Sutcliffe for eight months for dangerous driving with four months of the suspended sentence activated consecutively.
