THREE students, who are gaining valuable work experience with Bradford Council’s museums, have taken part in a trip to Turkey to exchange ideas on how to promote youth participation in various aspects of society.
The three invited to the Participate to Change seminar in Istanbul by the National Youth Agency were Emily Conroy, and Esther McLaughlin, interns with the council’s museums and galleries, and Jack Lynch., a trainee with the museums.
They examined government policy, and shared ideas about democracy and equality with focusing on how young people can better shape their lives in society.
Muge Yaman, the Turkish co-ordinator of the event, said: “It was so amazing to see young people from different cultural backgrounds having similar needs and expectations when it comes to participating in life.”
Bradford Council leader Councillor David Green (pictured) said: “It’s good that these young people got a chance to share their ideas." about how to promote youth participation in society.”
