THE driver of a white van caught on a dashboard camera dangerously overtaking near a primary school has been reported for summons for road traffic offences.
The unidentified driver, marked with Bingley-based firm Elecktec’s logo, was caught on a dashboard camera overtaking near Cottingley Village Primary School.
Ian Lee, 62, of Rosetta Drive, Fairweather Green, Bradford, was driving his Volvo V70 when he filmed the van's manoeuvre.
which had two motorbikes on a trailer.
In the film, the driver is seen travelling up Cottingley Moor Road, past the school.
A car is then parked up ahead on the left-hand side, which prompted the car driver to overtake.
To do so, he moved onto the right-hand side of the road and drove to the right of a keep left sign located on a pedestrian refuge island.
But the van driver overtook the car and continued to travel up the right-hand side of the road.
Now officers from the Shipley Neighbourhood Policing team, who worked closely with Elecktec, have identified and interviewed the van driver. A police statement on the Bingley Rural My Neighbourhood Police websitePolice said:“The van driver has expressed remorse for his actions and the impact that this incident has caused on both other road users and the company he works for," said a police statement.
