COMIC Relief lasted a little bit longer at one Bradford primary school, to the delight of pupils but the misery of a PE teacher.
Byrom Primary School in Barkerend was raising money for Comic Relief this month, and PE teacher Nick Bennett agreed that if £400 was raised he would be gunged. Pupils collected money with buckets and paid to come in dressed in red, with “funny faces” and red noses.
Mr Bennett nervously waited as the money was counted, and his slimy fate was sealed by the total of £445. Afterwards, he said he “felt like Shrek.”
Teacher Vicky Clarkson organised fundraising with Aimee Balding and Jenny White. She said: “We had a whole school assembly before the gunging when we reflected why we do this fundraising.Mr Bennet didn’t like the gunging. This year we’ve raised the most ever for Comic Relief.", and we’re ready to do it even bigger and better next time.”
