It was the views from the balcony and the private back garden that persuaded the current owner of this modern home in Bingley, that it was the house for her. “Also, it was the lightness of the interior. It has lots of windows and high ceilings, which I love, as well as an incredible kitchen diner.”
It’s certainly an impressive home. Elevated to allow panoramic views of the Aire Calley, there is a full length seated balcony, perfect to al-fresco dining or simply enjoying the views.
Finished to a high standard, on the ground floor there are two bedrooms, one of which is currently used an an office, shower room, and integral garage with sink and plumbing for an automatic washing machine and dryer.
The spacious first floor is a real eye opening with a fantastic sized dual aspect lounge with large central limestone feature fireplace and access to the balcony. The dining kitchen is, as the owner says, “an incredible space”, with its modern units, U-shaped work top and integral fittings which include an oven/grill, dishwasher and microwave.
Off the second floor landing is the master bedroom, fitted with an impressive range of bedroom furniture, and an en-suite which is bigger than most family bathrooms and includes a four-piece suite with spa bath, separate shower and luxury tiled. Also on this level are two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.
MORE FROM PROPERTY OF THE WEEK
When the owner moved in the house was immaculate, which meant there was little to do. “I have decorated, put a new boiler in, changed light fittings and done some work in the garden.
“I put lights and a heater on the balcony so that you can sit out virtually all year round. The views are quite simply stunning and it’s amazing to sit out there on Bonfire Night or New Year;s Eve and watch the fireworks across the valley. Or to simply sit out on a summer’s evening with a nice glass of wine”
The main thing the owner did was to put top quality oak flooring in the sitting room and master bedroom. “It really gives the rooms warmth and a quality feel.
“I love the sitting room as it is dual aspect and has these mazing views, and I also love the Jacuzzi bath in the en-suite.”
This is a lovely family home, because potentially the ground floor could be used as separate living accommodation for an elderly relative or teenager, it’s a very versatile one. “I bought the house intending that my elderly father could move in to the ground floor. There’s a bedroom, a large room which I use as an office/gym, but which would make a lovely sitting room, and a shower room. I was going to add a little kitchen as well.”
The spacious yet private outdoor space is great for socialising. “I’ve planted a lot of flowers to attract butterflies and also planted apple trees along the back. It’s a lovely garden for sunbathing in. It’s really private and sheltered and it’s lovely having moorland behind the house.
“It’s a friendly area and I have really nice neighbours and good access to buses and trains.
“I love the views and the size of the rooms – there’s no scrimping on space. The master bedroom is amazing and I know I won’t get another house with all the storage and space I have now. I will be very sad to leave.”
