PUPILS from Southfield Grange School in Bradford took on a Paralympic-style sporting challenge for youngsters with disabilities at part of this year’s West Yorkshire Sainsbury’s School Games.
Almost 50 pupils from schools across the county were involved in the inaugural Panathlon finals at North Bridge Leisure Centre, in Halifax.
Participants competed in table cricket, boccia, new age kurling, polybat, and a variety of disability athletics events.
Southfield Grange finished fourth in the overall competition.
Nigel Harrison, chief executive of West Yorkshire Sport, which organises the games, said: “This was the first time we’ve incorporated a dedicated disability sports event into the School Games – in West Yorkshire and it was a huge success.
“Not only did the young people have a great time, but the event also raised awareness of disability sport.”
